powder blue

Powder blue is calming, but still has a vibrancy. It is regal and comfortable somehow. I have it absolutely nowhere in my home, but I definitely wish I did...

apricot

Apricot is spring. I love the color (even if seasonal color analysis dictates I can not wear it) and if I had to think of a hue for April- this would be it. It is fresh and soft and just awfully pretty.....

katie daisy

Artist Katie Daisy mixes watercolor and acrylic paints to create bright and lively hand lettered art that would instantly warm any space. Her uninhibited use of vibrant color combinations results in some of the happiest art I have ever seen and it can be found in her fantastic etsy shop- thewheatfield.

adirondack chairs?

Every year at this time (because they are on sale), I consider buying a pair of Adirondack chairs for our yard and painting them a bright raspberry color. It is a very specific daydream- with even the color of my maybe chairs chosen based on the hue of our house and shutters (sage green family). I think it would look great and I know we would use them -yet, every year I only consider and never buy. Why?
I am thinking if I get them this fall-I will keep them at my parents' place and paint them there. That way, I can surprise my husband for Christmas and do all the messy painting away from curious kids....I would even use the above card with this gift.
Hmmm, my daydreams now have coordinating papergoods even....

oxblood

It appears oxblood is one of the colors for Fall. It is a deep red that I think looks good on everyone.  Here is a trendy little wishlist of things out there in autumn's hottest hue.... (my favorite is the purse)

watermelon season

The color watermelon is one of my favorites. There is something fresh and summery about it- just like the fruit. A little watermelon in your life goes a long way.....

macaron color

People...well, people who blog, seem drawn to the marriage of mint and coral colors. I suppose I am one of them because I am enamored of it, too. It is the macaron combination and it is hard to resist...

color wheel dressing

In one of my studio art classes in college, we spent weeks on the Munsell color system. I still have a lot of the projects relating to that class and, until very recently, also had the Munsell binder (which is a classic three ring job just filled with volumes of what resembles paint chips)- because all that color is just hypnotizing.
The color wheel has guided quite a few of my artistic endeavors since then and informed some of my clothing choices. Now I am no fashion plate, if I am being 100% honest, I flatlined in the fashion department long ago, but I always follow the rules of the color wheel.
The blog academichic has a cool post, Fashion 101, that talks about color relationships in fashion and making good choices.
It is a beginner's guide to mix and match :).

color block boxes

One of the consequences of forcing my poor sweet husband to paint virtually every wall (and ceiling!) in my house is that we have accumulated a tidy little stack of those paper cards of paint samples. Not wanting to throw them away (they are just so pretty and I hate to be wasteful!) I was happy to stumble upon an easy tutorial by "What About Orange" on how to turn those paper cards into cute little gift boxes. It looks like everyone wins because of my hoarding tendencies!
