As we mourn the death of the great Maurice Sendak, let's also take a moment to appreciate how he showed children to live their own lives - with passion, humor, and on their own terms.

Mr. Sendak, we loved you so.

Maurice Sendak will be dearly missed. He was such a huge part of my childhood, as he was for so many people, both as a storyteller and an artist. My Mother read his books to me and my sisters. My favorite, and I'm dating myself now, was Really Rosie, the animated story sung by carol king. I pulled it up on you tube yesterday. It made me a little teary, a little nostalgic for days gone by.
